Pergola & Gazebo FAQs
What is the difference between a pergola and a gazebo?
A pergola typically has an open overhead framework that defines an outdoor seating or dining area. A gazebo typically has a solid roof for more shade and rain protection. The right choice depends on how you want to use your backyard and how much cover you prefer.
Will an open-top pergola keep rain out?
No. An open-top pergola allows rain through and does not provide the shelter of a solid roof. If rain protection is a priority, Penn Construction can help you explore a gazebo or another covered outdoor structure.
Can Penn Construction build a pergola or gazebo on my existing deck or patio?
It may be possible, depending on the existing deck or patio and the support the new structure requires. Penn Construction will need to evaluate the location, condition, foundation, and anchoring needs before recommending an approach. Additional footings or structural support may be needed.
